Obi-Wan Kenobi series hires Deborah Chow to direct

Lucasfilm‘s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series has finally found a director. Boarding the project to helm the ship is Deborah Chow. The series is being made for Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+.

Chow’s other TV directing credits include Fear The Walking DeadMr RobotIron FistAmerican GodsBetter Call Saul and The Man In The High Castle, as well as episodes of Star Wars‘ upcoming series The Mandalorian.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series will see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as the titular jedi for the first time since Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith. The series is set to take place eight years after the events of the aforementioned film.

In a statement, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said: “We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga. Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in The Mandalorian, I’m absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story.”

Chow will direct the entirety of the series. It will be written by Hossein Amini (Drive), Chow, Amini and McGregor will serve as executive producers alongside Kennedy, Tracey Seaward (The Queen) and John Swartz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and Jason McGatlin (Lucasfilm’s executive vice president) will serve as a co-producer.
